Expert Group on Maritime Policy |

At the 15th Ministerial Session in Elsinore, Denmark on the 4th of June the Ministers welcomed the decision to set up an Expert Group on Maritime Policy intended to contribute to sustainable growth and employment in the maritime sector, to combine and better coordinate all sea related activities and tasks, as well as to strike an appropriate balance between economic, social and ecological aspects. The Expert Group is cross-sectoral and will coordinate its work mainly between the priority areas of Economic Development and the Environment.

On March 10 2011 The Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry organised a workshop on LNG entitled The Baltic Sea as a pilot for LNG in Europe? Promoting the use and distribution of maritime LNG. The workshop was organised under the auspices of the Norwegian Presidency of the Council for 2010-2011. On April 23 2012 The Expert Group on Maritime Policy convened Workshop “Marine environmental protection on the Baltic Sea – political obligation, industrial opportunities”. The meeting was a follow up of the EGMP seminar on clean shipping and liquefied natural gas as ship fuel held in Oslo in March 2011. The event was also an integral part of the “Baltic Sea Days 2012” in Berlin hosted by the German Presidency of the CBSS.
