Definition: Ratio of CHP electricity and heat production to CHP energy consumption.

Data source: International Energy Agency , Energy Balances and Energy statistics of OECD and NON-OECD countries 1971-1997, OECD Edition, 1999, on diskettes.

Russia is corrected with a distribution key to simulate the part of the country which is included in this account. For further information see distribution keys.

CHP efficiency is calcualted between total electricity and heat produced vs. total consumption of fuels. The energy for own use is however not taken into account. The IEA statistics has reported positive transformation loss in several occuations. These obviously wrong numbers have been multiplied by -1, assuming that the error only is opposite signs.

Possible data problems: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia 1990-1993.
